Legendary Car Designer and Wheeler Dealers Star to Host Exclusive Museum Events

The British Motor Museum has announced two exclusive evening events featuring some of the biggest names in the automotive world, giving car enthusiasts rare opportunities to meet industry legends in an intimate setting.

Renowned car designer Peter Stevens will appear on 14 April, followed by TV presenter and car dealer Mike Brewer on 12 May, with both events hosted by Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars presenter Paul Cowland.

The exclusive “Evening With” series follows the success of a similar event with celebrated designer Ian Callum earlier this year, which sold out weeks in advance.

Iconic Designer Behind McLaren F1 and Lotus Esprit

Peter Stevens, whose distinguished career has seen him create some of Britain’s most iconic cars, will discuss his extensive experience working with prestigious manufacturers including Ford, Lotus, Jaguar, McLaren, Subaru, and MG Rover Group.

Though the Museum hasn’t confirmed which specific designs Stevens will focus on, his portfolio includes the legendary McLaren F1 supercar, Lotus Esprit, Jaguar XJR-15, and numerous motorsport projects spanning Formula 1 and Le Mans.

Stevens is a two-time nominee for The Prince Phillip Prize for Designer of the Year and was named Autocar magazine’s Designer of the Year in 2002. He also received the British Design Council Award for his work on the Lotus Elan SE.

Car design historian James Wilson told our reporter: “Peter Stevens is part of a golden generation of British car designers who shaped global automotive design. His McLaren F1 is arguably the most significant road car of the last 30 years, and his influence extends far beyond his headline projects.”

Wheeler Dealers Star Reveals Industry Secrets

The following month, Mike Brewer – familiar to millions as the face of Wheeler Dealers – will take to the stage to share behind-the-scenes stories from his 25-year television career.

Brewer is expected to reveal untold tales from his extensive TV work, which includes not only Wheeler Dealers but also Driven, Deals on Wheels, Pulling Power, and Wrecks to Riches. His latest project, Wheeler Dealers World Tour, has just been commissioned for a second series.

The events represent a growing trend of “museum lates” – after-hours programming that appeals to specialist adult audiences seeking more in-depth engagement with cultural institutions.

Stephen Laing, Head of Collections & Engagement at the British Motor Museum, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting these two exclusive events in the coming months which are both sure to be lively, entertaining and amusing evenings in the company of two true motoring icons!”

Interactive Experience with Museum Access

Both evenings will feature audience Q&A sessions and signing opportunities with the guests. Attendees will also have exclusive after-hours access to explore the Museum’s collection of over 400 classic, vintage, and veteran vehicles, including the latest feature exhibition “The Gallery.”

The ticket price of £50 (or £45 for Premium Members) includes a hot buffet supper. As the events take place outside regular opening hours, the Museum notes that Annual Passes will not be valid for entry.

Located in Gaydon, Warwickshire, the British Motor Museum houses the collections of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, which achieved designated status from Arts Council England in 2014, recognizing its national significance.

With limited places available for both events, the Museum recommends early booking through their website or by calling 01926 895300.

For car enthusiasts, these evenings represent rare opportunities to gain insights from industry insiders in a setting surrounded by the very vehicles that represent Britain’s automotive heritage.
