Police Scotland has expanded their search to Aberdeen’s coastline in the ongoing effort to locate missing sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, who were last seen in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The sisters, who are part of a set of triplets, were captured on CCTV at Victoria Bridge on Market Street around 2:12 AM.
The intensifying search operation now encompasses the area stretching towards the Port of Aberdeen’s South Harbour and Duthie Park, with the River Dee remaining the focal point of police efforts. Police divers have already conducted underwater searches in sections of the river near the sisters’ last known location.
Family Connection
The Huszti sisters, who relocated to Scotland from Hungary approximately seven years ago, are described as white, slim-built, with long brown hair. Their brother Jozsef reported that the sisters appeared “fine” in the days leading up to their disappearance, with their mother having a normal 40-minute conversation with them the previous Saturday.
Edit Huszti, the third triplet, shared that she had a video call with her sisters on New Year’s Eve, during which they seemed happy and cheerful. The family noted that while the sisters are sociable, they typically preferred staying home and watching films, making their early morning outing unusual. Henrietta is known to work at a Costa Coffee branch in Aberdeen.
Search Operations
Chief Inspector Darren Bruce emphasized the seriousness of the investigation: “We have significant resources dedicated to the inquiry, and the family is understandably extremely worried.” The search has involved multiple specialized units, including:
Police Scotland helicopter
Force divers
Search dogs
Ground teams
Last Known Movements
After being spotted on Victoria Bridge in the Torry area, CCTV footage shows the sisters turning right onto a footpath beside the River Dee, heading toward Aberdeen Boat Club. Investigators note there is no evidence of the women leaving this area and are particularly interested in reviewing CCTV footage from businesses around South Esplanade and Menzies Road.
International Cooperation
Police Scotland is working in conjunction with Hungarian authorities, who are maintaining contact with the sisters’ extended family. The Huszti family in Hungary has issued a statement requesting respect and asking people to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors about the disappearance.
The statement, originally released in Hungarian, emphasized: “We can only say what’s already been in the news… The family is not in a position to give everyone separate information. Thank you all for being with us in these difficult times.”
Police Stance
While the investigation continues with urgency, detectives have stated there is currently no evidence suggesting suspicious circumstances surrounding the sisters’ disappearance. However, the thoroughness of the search operation, including coastal areas and industrial zones, indicates the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case.
Anyone with information about Eliza and Henrietta’s whereabouts is urged to contact Police Scotland immediately.
