Edinburgh police have launched an investigation after an 18-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in the seaside district of Portobello on Friday evening.
The attack occurred on Bath Street around 6:40 PM, with the victim subsequently rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. While his injuries are serious, medical staff have confirmed they are not life-threatening.
Police are seeking three suspects in connection with the incident. Two fled the scene on dark-colored e-bikes and were wearing distinctive clothing:
Both described as tall with slim builds
Dressed in dark clothing
Wearing black balaclavas
A third suspect, notably different in appearance, is described as having a stocky build and blonde hair.
Detective Inspector Dougal Begg, leading the investigation, emphasized the targeted nature of the attack: “We believe this was a targeted attack and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have information which could assist to contact us.”
Police have maintained an increased presence in the Portobello area as investigations continue. DI Begg confirmed: “We are continuing our inquiries to establish the full circumstances and a police presence will remain in the area.”
