The family of a British mountaineer missing for 10 days in the Dolomites express their deep sorrow as search teams recover his belongings in the Italian mountain range. Aziz Ziriat, 36, and Samuel Harris, 35, from London, were last heard from on 1 January and failed to check into their flight home on 6 January. A body, believed to be that of Mr. Harris, was found buried under snow in the Passo di Conca area. Additionally, Mr. Ziriat’s mobile phone cover and a card were discovered near Mr. Harris’s body. The challenging weather conditions have hindered search efforts, but the family is grateful for the coordinated work and dedication of the Alpine Rescue, emergency services, and volunteers in Italy. They also appreciate the overwhelming support from family and friends. More than 140 individuals participated in the search for Mr. Ziriat on Saturday, including members of the Alpine Rescue, Guardia di Finanza Rescue, Carabinieri, and local fire brigade. Mr. Ziriat’s friend expressed their hope to find him soon. The search operation was temporarily halted due to thick fog, but authorities continue their efforts to locate Mr. Ziriat.
