Families looking for Easter holiday activities will have the chance to win prizes worth over £200 as part of a golden egg treasure hunt at Blenheim Palace this April.
The Oxfordshire UNESCO World Heritage Site has announced “Golden Giveaways,” a daily treasure hunt running weekdays from 5th to 17th April 2025, where visitors can track down golden eggs hidden across the historic estate.
Successful hunters will receive prizes including annual passes, dining experiences, and tickets to premium events, with some rewards valued at more than £200.
Social Media Clues to Guide the Hunt
The Palace will share daily clues to the golden egg’s location across its social media channels, encouraging families to follow along and join the hunt during their visit.
Once found, winners can follow instructions to notify a Palace Host and claim their prize, which could include:
- A family ticket to Christmas at Blenheim Palace worth £209
- A Palace and Play Pass worth £165
- Afternoon Tea in The Orangery valued at £106
- A lunch at the Walled Garden Pizzeria up to £74
- Tickets to the Halloween Light Trail worth £80
- A £40 voucher for Adventure Play merchandise
- A complete set of Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon novels worth £95
Local parent Sarah Thompson, 36, from Witney, told our reporter: “We’re definitely going to try our luck at finding one of the golden eggs. The kids are already excited about the idea of a treasure hunt, and the prizes sound fantastic – especially the annual pass which would mean we could visit throughout the year.”
Extensive Easter Programme
The treasure hunt adds to an already packed programme of Easter activities at the Palace, which includes circus workshops, a traditional egg trail through the formal gardens, fairground rides, archery sessions, and meet-and-greets with the Easter Bunny.
Most activities are included in the standard admission price, though some attractions like fairground rides, archery, and face painting will incur additional charges.
Heather Carter, Managing Director of Visitor Attraction at Blenheim Palace, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to delight our visitors, and Golden Giveaways is a fantastic opportunity to create lasting memories for families exploring Blenheim Palace. It not only adds a fun challenge for children but also keeps them active and outdoors during the Easter holidays.”
New Adventure Play Area
Visitors can also explore the recently opened Adventure Play, a £3.6 million attraction described as the biggest family-themed addition in the Palace’s history.
Covering an area larger than a football pitch, the play zone features secret chambers, tunnel slides, rope bridges, and design elements inspired by the Palace’s architectural features. It has been specifically designed to accommodate children of all abilities aged 2-12 years.
Local tourism officials have welcomed the expanded Easter offering. “Attractions like this are vital for the regional economy during school holidays,” explained James Wilson, head of Oxfordshire Tourism Partnership. “By creating engaging experiences for families, Blenheim is helping to boost visitor numbers across the wider area.”
How to Visit
A Palace and Play Pass is available at £165 for a family of four (two adults and two children), offering unlimited access to both Blenheim Palace and Adventure Play for a full year.
Individual day passes are priced at £51 per adult and £41 per child.
The Golden Giveaways treasure hunt runs on weekdays only during the specified period, with regular Easter activities available throughout the holiday.
Families are advised to book tickets in advance via the Blenheim Palace website, particularly during peak holiday periods when visitor numbers are expected to be high.
