Ukraine’s most prestigious folk ensemble will perform at the London Palladium on February 24, 2025, marking three years since Russia’s full-scale invasion in a concert that aims to thank the British public for their support while raising funds for war victims.
The Verevka National Academic Folklore Ensemble, Ukraine’s official state choir and the only orchestra authorized to perform the national anthem at presidential inaugurations, will headline “We Are Ukrainians: Three Years of Resilience.” The event will combine traditional Ukrainian music and dance with modern multimedia elements.
Several prominent Ukrainian figures will attend, including world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk, Eurovision winner Jamala, and singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk. They will be joined by returned prisoners of war and 11-year-old Alexandra Pascal, a future Paralympic hopeful who survived a rocket attack.
“Like many of you, I admire Ukrainians for their bravery, resilience and indomitable spirit,” says Sir Richard Branson, supporting the event. “The Ukrainian military is not only defending their independence and identity – their fight is our fight.”
The concert forms part of a global tour expressing gratitude to Ukraine’s international allies, with proceeds supporting the Superhumans rehabilitation centre, which provides prosthetics and rehabilitation for Ukrainians who have lost limbs during the conflict.
Howard Buffett, whose foundation supports the Superhumans Centre, notes: “The bitter truth is that Ukraine will need advanced medical facilities to help veterans and civilians affected by this war now and in the future.”
The Verevka ensemble, founded in 1943, has performed in over 60 countries including at the UN Headquarters and the Vatican. The London performance aims to showcase Ukrainian cultural resilience through a combination of traditional folk songs, international compositions, and sacred music.
