Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley conducted a significant visit to Haringey and Enfield today, examining the progress of the ambitious ‘Clear, Hold, Build’ project that spans both boroughs.
The Commissioner’s tour of local hotspots provided firsthand insight into community safety challenges, accompanied by key local leaders including Haringey Council Leader Cllr Peray Ahmet, Enfield Council Deputy Leader Cllr Tim Leaver, and Haringey’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Ajda Ovat.
The visit marks the beginning of an intensive focus on community safety in the area, with two major initiatives planned for the coming days. Residents of Bruce Castle and Northumberland Park will have their voices heard during a dedicated Day of Action on January 29th, where they can directly engage with council staff and police about local concerns.
Following this, St Ann’s ward will host a comprehensive Week of Action, featuring council service teams working on the ground to address neighborhood issues. These events form part of a bi-monthly program aimed at improving community safety and engagement.
The Commissioner’s visit to the North Area Borough Command Unit demonstrates a renewed commitment to addressing safety concerns in North London’s communities. The ‘Clear, Hold, Build’ project represents a collaborative approach between boroughs, combining resources and expertise to tackle local challenges more effectively.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming community events, with council and police representatives ready to discuss and investigate any concerns raised by local citizens.
