London Pub The Cambria, Camberwell reopens 24th March 2022 after Renovation

The Cambria on Kemerton Road, Camberwell, re-opens on Thursday 24th March with a fresh new look and a fresh new menu following a major £600,000+ upgrade by new operators, Prospect Pubs & Bars. Having been closed for over 2 years, this much-loved pub is already receiving an enthusiastic response from locals and visitors to the area, with strong forward bookings and interest as they prepare to open their doors.

Benefiting from a full top-to-toe revamp, The Cambria promises to be a popular new urban hub for this vibrant yet leafy South East London neighbourhood, offering something for everyone with extended space for the local community to call their own. The main bar has been enlarged to provide a warm and welcoming point of entry for the pub, plus The Cambria now also benefits from a new, 70-cover garden room with retractable roof and sides that’s perfect for semi-alfresco drinking and dining. Outside, a 40-cover enclosed garden features a colourful mural from local Brixton Brewery, along with soft blankets and cushions.

Upstairs the private dining room has been upgraded too, with space for 40 seated diners, a private bar and bespoke menus for a range of occasions.

Food at The Cambria has also been bought bang up to date, with a new menu that features all your favourite pub classics, homemade best of British burgers, 28-day dry aged flat iron or rib-eye steaks, and a range of delicious, internationally inspired small plates.

Choose from classics such as Brixton Brewery battered market fish and chips served with crushed minted peas or plant based shepherd’s pie with seasonal greens and vegan gravy. Or dive into a range of small plates including steamed bao buns with crispy soft shell crab tempura, sticky pork belly and chorizo skewers or a rich vegan beetroot houmous with toasted seeds and flat bread.

On Sundays expect statement roasts with all the trimmings, including their trio of roast, a combination of sirloin of beef, herb buttered corn fed chicken and loin of pork, plus banging Bloody Mary’s. Open all day, every day, The Cambria will also feature an extensive menu of barista-style Fairtrade coffees and teas.

Keeping with a local vibe, the drinks offering at The Cambria centres on nearby Brixton Brewery’s hand-crafted, small batch beers and ales on tap, alongside premium international beers and ciders, wines, spirits and cocktails, plus a vibrant selection of no and low options.

Accomplished General Manager, Nadine Prankard heads up the new team at The Cambria, which promises to bring a real sense of community back to the area through its warm and friendly welcome, great food and attentive service.

Commenting on the opening, Nadine says;

“We’re really looking forward to getting The Cambria up and running, and to welcoming back our local community. The excitement has definitely been building as we’re got closer and closer to the opening date, with so many supportive and enthusiastic comments coming from locals each day. I’ve got a great new team in place, many of who are locals, and living on site myself, I can’t wait to get to know the area and the local community as well.

“Bookings are already starting to fill up, but there’s always space for walk-ins too. Plus we’ve received lots of interest to hire our private dining room, including a few customers looking to return their events back to the venue.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Thursday and to show off our new look. Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far and we look forward to meeting and getting right back to the heart of this bustling community.”
