London’s theatrical landscape is set to be shaken up this spring with the arrival of Mark O’Halloran’s provocative play “Conversations After Sex,” making its UK debut at Park Theatre from April 30 to May 17.
The critically acclaimed production, which swept the Irish Times Awards in 2022, promises an unflinching examination of human connection through a series of anonymous sexual encounters. Directed by rising star Jess Edwards, the play follows a woman navigating complex emotional terrain through her interactions with different men.
Actress Olivia Lindsay leads the cast, bringing her extensive theatrical experience to a role that demands both vulnerability and strength. The production will be staged in Park Theatre’s intimate Park90 space, offering audiences a close-up view of this raw and intimate narrative.
Ye You Productions, a relatively new theatre company founded in 2023, is behind the production. The company has quickly established itself as a platform for innovative storytelling, with a mission to elevate diverse voices in theatre. This debut full production marks a significant milestone for the young company.
“It’s more than just a play about sex,” says artistic director Olivia Lindsay. “It’s an exploration of human connection, loneliness, and the unexpected ways we seek intimacy.”
The play comes with an age recommendation of 16+ and will feature evening performances at 7 pm, with additional matinee shows on Thursdays and Saturdays at 3:15 pm. A special relaxed performance will be available on May 8 and 15, making the production more accessible to a wider audience.
Park Theatre, known for nurturing emerging talent and hosting critically acclaimed productions, provides the perfect backdrop for this challenging piece of theatre. The venue has a track record of supporting innovative performances, with ten West End transfers and multiple award nominations to its name.
With its combination of sharp writing, powerful performance, and unflinching exploration of human sexuality, “Conversations After Sex” is poised to be one of the most talked-about theatre productions of the spring season.
Press night is scheduled for May 2, and tickets are expected to sell quickly. Theatre enthusiasts and those interested in contemporary drama are advised to book early to secure their seats for this groundbreaking production.
