Channel Islands and Italian Region Launch Artist Exchange Programme

A new cultural exchange programme between the Channel Islands and Italy’s Puglia region is seeking artists specializing in poetry, storytelling, music, and dance. The initiative, announced by ArtHouse Jersey and Guernsey Arts in partnership with Puglia Culture, will select six artists for a collaborative residency programme later this year.

Three artists from the Channel Islands and three from Puglia will be chosen to participate in a 10-day residency scheduled for November and December 2025. Applications for the programme are open until February 9.

The exchange builds on existing cooperation between the regions, which began last year when Channel Islands and Puglia representatives in Brussels collaborated on sustainable economic development initiatives.

Jersey’s Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, highlighted the programme’s significance: “This cross-border artist residency project represents a unique opportunity to connect creative minds across cultures and borders.” He emphasized the importance of exploring the shared medieval Norman heritage between the regions.

The initiative follows recent cultural discussions during the UK’s Italian ambassador’s visit to Jersey and aims to strengthen developing relationships between the Channel Islands and Italy.
