The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is launching its Spring Moorlander dining services for 2025, offering passengers a unique blend of heritage rail travel and fine dining through one of Britain’s most scenic national parks.
The historic railway, which carries 300,000 passengers annually, will run the special dining services between March and June 2025. Early birds booking for March or April services before February 28 will receive a 10% discount on their bookings.
The journey begins at Grosmont Station, taking passengers on an 18-mile round trip to Pickering Station through the stunning North York Moors landscape. Diners can choose between lunch services departing at 12:35pm or evening services at 7:15pm, with the entire experience lasting approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Passengers will dine in beautifully restored Pullman carriages, including the intimate Garnet, the heritage Robin, the historic Jos de Crau from the West Coast Main Line, and Opal, formerly of the Hull Pullman. The three-course menu features traditional British favorites with a modern twist, from classic prawn cocktail to homemade vegetable wellington.

“Our Spring Moorlander services are a great start to the year, combining the charm of heritage rail travel with a fresh and delicious seasonal menu,” says Kathryn Watson, NYMR’s Catering Manager. “It’s an unforgettable way to experience the beauty of the Moors while enjoying fine dining with friends and family.”
Tickets are priced from £95 per person for lunch services and £110 for evening services. For those seeking extra privacy, private coupes for up to four people are available, including a drinks package with wine and water.
The Spring Moorlander kicks off NYMR’s 2025 dining calendar, with Summer Moorlander, Autumn Moorlander, and special Railway 200 services to be announced later in the year. These services form part of the railway’s broader participation in nationwide Railway 200 celebrations during 2025.
This initiative represents another chapter in the story of Britain’s most popular heritage railway, which operates as an Educational Charitable Trust and accredited museum, preserving railway heritage while providing unique experiences for visitors to the North East.
