The Elder, a renowned restaurant nestled within Hotel Indigo Bath, has taken its culinary offerings to new heights with the introduction of a seven-course set menu. This latest innovation highlights the best of British wild food, curated by restaurateur Mike Robinson and Executive Chef Liam Goldstone, marking an exciting new chapter for the award-winning establishment.
The menu, which evolves with the seasons, is a testament to The Elder’s dedication to sustainability and local sourcing. Ingredients are carefully selected to reflect the restaurant’s commitment to wild, sustainable produce. Mike Robinson, a passionate advocate for ethical sourcing, supplies wild venison through his company, Deer Box, which harvests from estates located within an hour of Bath. The restaurant also sources fish from Cornwall’s Flying Fish, ensuring that only sustainable stocks are used, with daily variations based on availability. Dairy, farmed meats, and vegetables are procured from British growers, with a particular emphasis on organic options.
Originally opened in September 2020 within a Grade 1 listed Georgian building, The Elder has recently moved to an upper-level location within the hotel. This move coincides with the opening of a second restaurant, Brasserie Beau, on the ground floor in May 2024, which offers a more casual dining experience and is open daily from 12:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
Mike Robinson expressed his enthusiasm for the new menu, stating, “We are delighted to bring this amazing dining experience to the lovely city of Bath. The set menu takes the guest on a wild food journey, with incredibly delicious, carefully curated dishes that change with the seasons. Wild sustainable British ingredients are at the core of every dish, including amazing seasonal wild meat, fish, and non-meat options. For those who don’t eat meat, a thoughtful and truly delicious option is available on every course.”
The Elder also offers several private dining spaces, including “The Hearne,” which accommodates up to eight guests, “The Art Room” for up to ten people, and the “Stag Room,” which provides an intimate setting for up to 20 guests. The restaurant is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, starting at 6:00 pm, with the seven-course set menu priced at £85 per person, including a unique cocktail pairing.
Located just 0.2 miles from Bath railway station and easily accessible from major roads and Bristol International Airport, The Elder continues to attract diners seeking a refined and sustainable dining experience in the heart of Bath. For more information, visit The Elder’s website.
