Eden Camp, the modern history museum in Malton, North Yorkshire, has raised a combined total of £3,715 for two charities following a pair of fundraising events held earlier this year: The Great Tommy Sleepout and Drive It Day.

Sleeping out for veterans

On the night of Saturday 21st March, a team of Eden Camp veterans and supporters participated in The Great Tommy Sleepout, a national campaign designed to shine a light on the issue of military veterans facing homelessness. Spending the night outdoors in often cold and uncomfortable conditions, the team raised £2,615 in support of Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI), a charity that provides housing, employment support and care services to veterans and their families across the United Kingdom.

Gavin Pickering, a veteran and member of Eden Camp’s site services team, described the experience as deeply personal.
